the Aching

is a 3D graphic adventure game in the spirit of Sierra-Online's series of AGI adventures games. (King's Quest 1 & 2, Space Quest 1 & 2, etc) I am creating it as a submission for the Itch.io DOS Games Spring Jam for May 2021.

Minimum Requirements:

MS-DOS
Tandy 1000 compatible or IBM PC Compatible
Minimum 256KB RAM
Tandy Graphics or EGA graphics supported
Tandy Sound / SN76496 sound chip supported

Controls

Arrow keys / Number Pad Keys - Move
Escape key - presents the menu
F1 - show version
F2 - restart (currently non functional)
F5 - save game
F6 - load game
F8 - toggle cycle limiter
F9 - quit

Additional Comments from the Author

The engine is nearly feature complete but the game itself is only about 1/3rd made. Most of the work done so far has been establishing the scripting engine which utilizes several resource file formats I've developed over the years for use in a variety of DOS / Pre-Windows 2000 games. There are several screens currently included and a handful of game specific text blurbs and parser commands. Writer's block has seen fit to intervene for the time being, but perhaps once I'm passed it the Aching will become the fleshed out game it deserves to be.
